The Croix de Lorraine was a very popular and widespread trade item in the early days of the burgeoning Colonies and especially in New France. Whilst the cross originated in France and was a prevalent symbol of Christianity, it became a familiar symbol to all cultures and was worn as adornment as well as to signify religious affiliation.
This cross pendant has been cast in Britannia Pewter ( lead and nickel free) from an original in my collection. It has a wonderful "old silver" look to it. The pendant itself measures 1-1/2" high by 3/4" wide .
The necklace portion is composed of vintage French glass wampum beads and czech glass accent beads in your choice of red, black or blue. This offering is for one necklace.  PLEASE SPECIFY WHICH COLOR YOU WOULD LIKE via message or on the buyer comments!
This style of  wampum bead is historically correct as the mass reproduced European substitute for the more expensive and labor intensive hand drilled Quahog shell variety. They were very prevalent in the New World during the mid-late 1700's and perhaps besides beaver pelts the most important trade/ barter item.
The necklace has 4 buffalo bone beads at the head ( near the pendant) and measures 28" total length,  14" drop from neck. There is no clasp.
This necklace would suit man, woman or child and be welcomed wherever historical authenticity is valued.
These necklaces pictured are models. The necklace you will recieve will be the same design, same pendant same beads and same length but some variations will occur as they are completely hand crafted items
