Description
This group of Fur Trade Beads is from the Old Celilo Falls Site. Celilo Falls was a tribal fishing area on the Columbia River on the border between Oregon and Washington. The name refers to a series of cascades and waterfalls on the river, as well as to the native settlements and trading villages that existed there for 15,000 years, until they were submerged by construction of The Dalles Dam in 1957. For 15,000 years native people gathered here to fish and exchange goods.(The penny serves only as a size comparison and is not included in the sale.)
