Description
Offered for your consideration is one (1)Klipsch
part # K-96-K
1 inch dome compression driver with 90° x 60° Tractrix Horn
that was original equipment in my KSF-C5 center channel speaker, USA-manufactured in 1998. This neodymium magnet horn tweeter may also have been used in some other Klipsch speakers from this period, but the buyer is responsible for accurately making that determination.
So, please see my large photos,
the measurements
, and read the remaining description to decide if this capable high frequency driver is correct for your needs.
This Klipsch tweeter is in clean, very good condition. It has a perfect radiating surface, well protected by the acoustic grate in the recessed horn throat. Plus, the plastic mount flange and horn body have no chips or cracks, just a few light scuffs from the years. Also, the +/- terminals are keyed for polarity (red dot side = positive) and have never been soldered on the spades. Overall, this tweeter is in very nice shape.
Most importantly, the tweeter has been fully tested and sounds perfect—excellent upper midrange coverage and sparkly highs with its 20kHz rating. Plus, it supports 100W continuous input (400W peak) as crossed-over at a relatively low 2.2kHz in the KSF-C5, so it’s a sturdy platform. And, I tested its DC resistance at 7.0Ω, consistent with a 7 ohm nominal driver rating. Lastly, the faceplate measures 6¾” square and the assembly stands 3¾” tall.
As pictured and described, this Klipsch K-96-K horn-loaded dome tweeter is offered at a competitive price.
