Offered for your consideration is one (1)
CANTON
80mm (3⅛ inch) mid/bass woofer
that was original equipment in my CANTON Plus MX surround speakers, made in Germany c.2003. This capable driver was likely used in other CANTON models from this period, but buyer is responsible for accurately assessing its suitability for any other applications.
So, please see my large photos, measurements and read the remaining description to decide if this splendid CANTON mid/bass driver should be yours.
This CANTON woofer is in clean, excellent overall condition. It has a flawless poly cone, perfect voice coil dustcap, and
permanent
rubber surround. Plus, the black anodized steel basket is in great shape and so is the magnet ‘bell’ cover.  And, the +/- terminals are marked for polarity and have never been soldered on the spades. Overall, this little woofer is indistinguishable from new!
Most importantly, it’s been fully tested and sounds terrific as you’d expect from CANTON. It has a fast, detailed midrange and carries deep into lower treble (crossed over to tweeter at 5kHz in the Plus MX). Plus, it’s rated to 70W so it’s a stout design. And, I tested its DC resistance at 3.8Ω, consistent with a nominal 4 ohm driver rating. Lastly, the basket flange measures 3⅛” square, it stands about 2⅛”, and the mounting holes are spaced 3” adjacent / 3½” diagonal apart, c-t-c.
This is a great find if you have a blown mid/bass woofer in your Plus MX or other suitable CANTON speaker. And, long discontinued, it would be a smart spare to have on hand for future needs.
