Offered for your consideration is one (1) vintage
UTAH
“MicroGap”
8” Alnico magnet wide range driver
, USA-manufactured in 1962.  As you probably know,
UTAH
was a notable driver supplier to the domestic speaker industry from the 1950’s through 1970’s and also sold their own speaker line. As per the EIA source/date code on the magnet cover, “328246”,
UTAH
(328) built this speaker driver in the 46th week of 1962.

This
UTAH
speaker is in clean, very good condition. The sturdy seamed and ribbed paper cone is flawless and so is the felt voice coil dustcap.  Plus, the integral cone suspension is permanent and unharmed.  Also, the galvanized steel basket has no dings or scratches of note, just a touch of oxidation mainly on the mount flange and magnet keeper.  And, the +/- terminals are marked for polarity, measure the industry standard .205”, and have been de-soldered on the spades for the next owner’s convenience.  Overall, this 8” driver is quite well preserved.
It’s been fully tested and sounds very clear and detailed with the warmth of tone that makes Alnico magnet speakers so desirable.  Plus, I tested its DC resistance at an unusual 39.9Ω
which suggests a 40 ohm nominal driver rating
typically used with other same/similar speakers and regulated by a transformer.  Lastly, the basket measures 7⅝” across, 8⅜” from the corners, it stands 3¼” tall, and the mounting holes are spaced 5½” adjacent / 7⅞” on the diagonal apart, c-t-c.
So, as pictured and described, this
