  • Condition: Very Good Condition! Late 20th century. This is an outstanding painted white deerskin pouch decorated on the front panel with a section of painted red iron oxide pigment. It is beaded with stars and geometric tribal patterns in many colors. Beads are: opaque cadmium yellow, acid green, light periwinkle blue and mauve; translucent greasy yellow; and transparent jade green and ultramarine blue. Beading down sides and at top edge of flap. Additionally decorated with fringe, 8 brass bells and 8 large shaped elk teeth approx 20mm x 20mm. Handsewn. Three double ties at flap and two lengths of strap at top of back face. Seems clean overall but back has some slight spotting in small area. This pattern is influenced by the plateau designs of the tribal American West and technically resembles that beadwork; however, since we don't actually know who made it I cannot call it native American. It is near mint but has some light soiling and small stain on back face.
