Woodrow Wilson "Woody" Crumbo (1912-1989) (Potawatomi) was an artist, Native American flute player, and dancer who lived and worked mostly in the West of the United States. As an independent prospector in New Mexico in the late 1950s, he found one of the largest beryllium veins in the nation, valued at millions of dollars.
His paintings are held by several major museums, including the Smithsonian Institution and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, with a large collection at the Thomas Gilcrease Institute in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Crumbo was a 1978 inductee into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame for his paintings. He was appointed as an "ambassador of good will" for Oklahoma in 1982 by Governor George Nigh.
ITEM DESCRIPTION
Fantastic original silkscreen signed by the artist “Spirit Horse”. The item is in practically perfect original condition with no discernible issues (please excuse the reflection on the photographs).
A superb original item of the artist’s lifetime, not a reproduction. The silkscreen measures 7.5 inches x 5.5 inches approximately within aperture, the frame measures 13 inches x 11 inches approximately.
The framing tape on the back is so old it has turned brown and is either missing, torn, or off. It in no way detracts from the front or image.
